Enrique E. Calderon M.D., is a Vitreo-Retina Surgeon who specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the retina and vitreous, including macular degeneration, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, ocular trauma, macular holes/pucker, diabetic detachments, dislocated lenses and complications ensuing eye surgery.

A native of Texas, Dr. Calderon graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas Texas, earning a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science. After earning his medical degree from Cambridge Overseas Medical Training Program (Kigezi International SOM), he served his transitional internship year at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV. Dr. Calderon completed a retina research fellowship and then a Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) at Houston. He completed his retina-vitreous surgery Fellowship at Retina Specialists of Ohio/MetroHealth Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Prior to launching Retina of Austin, PA, Dr. Calderon established the Vitreo-Retina service at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. A level I trauma center that was the recipient of the Malcolm Baldridge Award of 2015 and is an affiliated teaching institution of West Virginia University School of Medicine. There he was also involved in resident education at the WVU School of Medicine Family Medicine program.

Dr. Calderon is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He holds memberships in several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, Texas Medical Association and Texas Ophthalmology Association.
